Allopatric speciation
- the production of new species as a result of some
disjunction in a population. This amy be physical such as
a geographical separation in time or space. Sympatric speciation - the production of new species through separation of individuals existing adjacent to each other but separated by some reproductive disjunction eg non- overlap in timing of flowering aril - a fleshy extension of the seed coat, lying inside the pericarp, which is often attractive to animals. These animals may eat the nutritious aril and then disperse the seed away from the parent plant. breeding system - the processes inherent in development of a new generation of offspring.
